Hi all,

My latest project has been completed. This is based on the AFV M109A6 model, with a modified Black Dog M109A2 interior and a heap of scratch built details.

I've included some WIP pics at the bottom for those interested, and some pics of the interior prior to closing it all up.

Thanks for looking!

Very nicely done. I like it a lot. My only critique of the piece is the reddish brown rust on the aluminum components. But overall that doesn't detract from a very nice build.

Cheers Robert, much appreciated! oops! Which aluminium components did I do incorrectly? I must have missed them in my reference pics! Cheers for letting me know

Very nice. That Black Dog interior is a lot of fun eh? How did you make the hoses?

Very nicely done! My only gig (since I can't tell which parts are aluminum or not) is if you look at the third picture down and look at the tracks...it looks like one of them is maybe on backwards.

It's still an awesome job though!

Excellent work .. well done!

Exterior, interior ... everything is very nicely detailed. In action effect, combined with lighting looks awesome!

cheers

I'll reiterate: VERY nice. The components I speak of are the hull and turret, and everything welded to them. (Steel and aluminum generally don't play nicely together.)

As an example the edges of the hull, when CARC chips off, look like this:

Similarly, the entire hull is aluminum:

And the floor of course, as it is welded to the hull shell:

The lifting lugs welded to the hull are aluminum as well:

Now this can throw folks off - even though they're aluminum, they do have steel sleeves inserted in them which does rust to a reddish brown color.

Turret details are the same, although some fittings that are bolted on are steel, or have have steel components attached to them.

Many of the builds I've seen all get this wrong to some degree. It's not just you. Another popular trend is to have rust streaking down from bolts attached to the hull - except that Grade 8 bolts do not rust.

I hope this helps a little on what is truly a very nice build.

For anyone else who hasn't built one of these beasts yet, I highly recommend my Paladin walkaround. It comes with a FAASV walkaround as well. Several examples of both are included, with interiors of course. And there are some new components shown on the Paladin not readily found on the net.
The is no finer, more complete Paladin reference anywhere.

Ah, but there's a reason it includes measurements...

Whoa! Thank you so much for these pics!

Shouldn't be too hard to correct on the model.

Where can I see your Walkaround? I had a quick look but couldn't find it.

Thanks again!

I shouldn't think so. Just replacing some colors here and there. I've been looking through your photos again. You could probably give a tutorial on that uniform cammo. And other than my own, I've not seen anyone else add the front step to a Paladin build. Nicely done, once again.
