Hi All,

Would anyone happen to have the size dimensions on the WWII British Air Drop fuel can? I've found a few photos but nothing definite on the actual sizes. If anyone happens to know what the height and diameter of these cans were I'd be very grateful for the information.

Hi Jim,

The CLE canister Mk.1, which could carry four cans, was 1.7m long, 0.4m in diameter. The usable length was max. 1.6m (probably even shorter), which makes 0.4m per can.



Since the top of the can was designed fit into the bottom of the next when placed on top of each other, the height of an individual can would be at least 5cm taller. Based on this, I would estimate an individual can to be around 0.45m high and 0.35m in diameter.

Sorry for the late reply, I pulled a double shift last night. Thank you for the information. Given the size of the drop container I think that you are 100% correct. I'll go with that size unless some further information pops up later
