Knowing the French Gendarmerie used this vehicle, I looked it up and found this video:

You have a couple of pictures in the book : Les blindés de la gendarmerie. Publisher MDM, 1992. Authors J.P.Monbazet and G. Tavera.
I fear the book is long OOP.

Thanks. Were such vehicles in military colors, or did the Gendarmerie have their own paint scheme?

Judging by pics of restored vehicles, I'd guess they had the same color scheme (overall French Army green) :

The color was Vert armée IR (for infrared). The AMLs were used for territory control missions during the Cold War: search and destroy the infiltrated spetsnaz.
