MY wife picked up one of these for doing whatever craft project she's doing or scheming on and I wondered if anyone has played around with them modeling? Anyone give them a go for making camo masks etc? Curious to see if I have a reason to hijack this from time to time...

I guess it should be great for making stencils. I haven't tried it myself but with the right paper I think you could do markings or camo, as you say

Chris, it`s a very useful tool.
I use my cutter on every single project.

Used for
- wheel masks
- barracuda netting
- canopy masks
- stencels and markings (stars, turret numbers for tanks etc.)
- scribing or cutting sheet styrene for small scratchbuilding projects
- cutting paper oder even thin wood for diorama buildings
See here some things I did with the cutter for an extensive review:
https://www.modellboard.net/index.php?topic=51752.0

Perfect for
- stencil masks for bases
like this base:

ps. sorry, had no time to translate the project descriptions into english. But feel free to ask any question that might rise up.

Cheers
Walter

Thanks much Walter. my Daughter has one, maybe I’ll co-opt her into making some masks for me. What type of paper do you use?

Learn something new every day!

That's pretty impressive. How is it actually controlled - Computer I assume? (Or phone app maybe. Though I would not want to draw graphics on a phone!)

That's interesting to know. My wife got one last week, and I have been wondering the same question.

Thanks for that reply, I'll take a look at the links when I get some time, camo netting is intriquing to say the least.

Nick, yes, you run it off your PC. She's done little cut flowers, made a few tshirts and a hoodie for daughter with graphics she down loaded and ironed on. I havnt messed with it and honestly dont know much outside of that but with the above links it looks like I got a few things to investigate.

My wife got a scan n cut - a competitor to the cricut. I thought I'd be able to use it to make airbrush masks for turret numbers. I haven't figured out the magic way to get it to scan the numbers I want to use. .ppt has DIN numbers for German tanks but they scan really strangely. Using the fonts built in it cuts some fine stencils, but they don't look very panzer. Maybe there is a way to scan the letters in larger and then resize them to something in 1/35?

I picked one up hoping to cut my own parts, assuming that multiple layers would be needed for anything thicker than card stock. I found thin sheet plastics that it can handle so I've used it so far, for window-frames, elaborate door hinges, iron fences and masks. I'm still looking for other uses.
Experience with the CAD software will also be good, if I ever buy a real CNC Cutter (laser or router). As in 'Laser Creation World' on YouTube.
