Hello, I'm working on my Su85 and am wondering what I should add to the soviet green to do my fading and dry brushing, would I use white with this color? thanks Kevin

Kevin,
When I use a green color I like to add panzer dark yellow to lighten it. I think the white makes it "stand out" a little too much.

I too prefer to use a yellow rather then a white to lighten green.

I Have to concur with Roo and Kelley. White will definately lighten your green up, but it is really hard to get that just right mixture with it. Opt for the yellow as it will gradually lighten the green. For drybrushing, not sure if you are using oils or something else, but the same thing applies here as well. A little yellow with some green and you should be set. I do use white, but only very, very limited amounts of it and only on certain areas and it is always the last color I use. HTH "Q"

I agrre with the others. For drybrush you can add some yellow. For shading I will add a Naples Yellow filter (98% thinner and 2% oil paint)...

hi since soviet green does towards the grey end of the green shades i would use a light grey added , this better than the yellow , which is ok for olive drab , as that fades towards the yellow end of olive drab , based on actual eamination of real tanks in workshops uber going restoration . cheers ian
