I don't know whether this has ever been mentioned but here goes. I was conscripted (as driver/porter) by the little woman as usual to go shopping. Another boring afternoon I thought until in the household section I bumped into a small mat made of bamboo strips used in making Japanese California rolls (sushi). It comes in two forms, one as flat strips the other skewers but both are linked top and bottom by string. Just nice for for a 1:35 wall for a Viet village house or enclosure for animals (pigs) or even as a plank bridge (common for jungle villages).
For me the linking by string that really makes it neat for wall materials. I've seen such huts in modern Vietnam in rural areas and also here by the natives in my country. I thought I post it here in case anyone is into building village huts or plank bridges.
The moral of the story is that household shopping with the wife can be fun when seen through 1:35 but don't tell the wife.

good heads-up!
Keep your eyes peeled no matter where you shop --- you may find something to bring to your models!

That's a great tip!!!
I agree - never forget the hobby wherever you go. Even the drug store - toothpaste isle can yield some cool tools too. Dental picks etc.
