Hoping some members can help me out with interior/engine pictures for a Japanese Type 94 tankette... Found some on the web, but nothing good, esp for the engine... I do know that the powerplant is a Franklin/Mitsubishi 4cyl air cooled engine...

Thanks Frenchy, I knew you would come up with something... The first set of pictures from AWM I have seen, but the ones from AMMS I haven't, super helpful it answers my question on what the clutch/trans looks like and the drivers seat... now if I can get some engine shots I'll be set... If I cant get pics I'll just use some gizmology and modify a 1/16 Ford 4cyl, and hide most of it under some debris... My project will have the tankette knocked out...

Franklin engines were air-cooled so you should get something with lots of cooling fins around each cylinder.
https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=Franklin+4+cylinder+air+cooled+engine&client=firefox-b-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjDm6jmjPfqAhXGAxAIHVhZDJwQsAR6BAgHEAE&biw=1185&bih=888#imgrc=urkOhGzaOFPhtM
The Franklin design seems to consist a crankshaft housing with a number of separate cylinders (with fins) bolted to the top of the crankshaft housing. Sort of like four one cylinder air-cooled motorcycle engines bolted together sideways on a common crankshaft.
This is an early Franklin engine but it shows the principle:

Making a model engine might be done by taking the engines of motorbike kits. Stacks of thin styrene discs with different diameters could possibly work, fiddly as h*** though .....
Good luck

BTW everyone, this is for the recent Takom 1/16 tankette... Thanks Brau, yes I have seen those pictures... Great pictures, good shots of the fuel tank, ammo trays, drivers area, and pedal linkage... Also my hoarding of model kits paid off on this project... I found a spare Ford model A engine, and a spare Henderson 4 cyl motorcycle engine, I could totally modify this to look like that Franklin... But judging from those pictures, most of the topside is covered by shrouding, most likely for cooling... Crazy...Now just have to gizmo up a transmission/drive axles...

1930'ies Franklin air-cooled 6 cylinder

Another 6-cylinder but it shows the ducting for the cooling air and sleeves around the upper parts of the cylinders to guide the airflow. I guess that the sleeve covers the area down to the lower turning point for the top of the piston.

The Franklin car company folded 4 years into the great depression. Anybodys guess as to which model (year) Franklin engine that was used by Mitsubishi

PERFECT!! Just what I needed, thanks... Also just like the Harley Davidson, Mitsubishi probably acquired or copied some of the tooling to produce their own version??

Maybe they bought stuff from the bankruptcy?
Your guess is as good as mine
Have fun designing your engine.
Maybe someone comes dragging a box of manufacturing drawings from Mitsubishi just as you are putting the finishing touches on your build

Of course... And when everything is done and painted, someone will come out with an aftermarket interior... The kit should have included one, it came with ALL hatches separate with detail on the inside, darn you Takom... Probably would have increased the price of the kit though...
