I checking to see if anybody has either of the two earlier Tamiya Universal, or Bren, Carrier kits? I know their was three, the original, with the crew in desert uniforms, kit 35175, with them in European uniforms, and the latest, 35249, the "Forced Recon" version. I have some questions of anybody who has either of the two earlier kits.

What is the MM number, if any, of the earliest desert version kit? What figures came with it? What color plastic? Were the tracks the type that could be glued or were they the kind you had to melt together? If you happen to have the kit open can you tell when the kit was made? Should be on the sprues somewhere.

In the 35175 kit same questions, figures included, plastic color, track type, year made if available.

Thanks in advance, this is for another review I'm starting to put together.

I have the early kit the number is MM189..The figures were a driver and a figure standing in the front compartment ..Both figures are very crude by todays standards...The plastic is sand color and the tracks are the same as those in there new kit (crappy) I couldn't find a date but it must be around the mid 70's ...The kits are all the same molds nothing has changed since except maybe some stowage and figures.... Bout time someone gave us a new kit of this important little vehicle.

European Carrier MkII #35715 European Campaign comes with the figures on the box

1) Driver in beret kneeling on the driver's seat, elbows on the front panel
2) Standing soldier with beret
3) Hatless soldier holding canteen in back

It also comes with the original desert figures.
The plastic is dark green.
The tracks are the glue together type
Dunno when the kit was made but the copyright on the instructions is 1994
I believe the kit is exactly the same as the desert version except for the sprue color and they added a new sprue with the new figures and equipment, but don't quote me as it was 2-3 years ago when I built the kit.

One of the build option is a carrier from the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division.
Somewhere I read that Canadians used to position the white stars a bit 'tumbling forward', read: the line over the left and right leg of the star wasn't horizontal.
Now I wonder if this was also the case on the Bren carriers?

Thanks in advance for answering!

wouldn't it just be easier to start a new thread than resurrect a 13 year old one?

I found the forced recon kit 35249 in my stash and decided to spend some evenings on it since the summer 2017 in The Netherlands seems to have ended in May already and rains spoil any summer feeling.
It was an OOB build. After painting I started applying the decals.
But.......
most of them fell in small pieces while in the water.
I never had this before so I wonder if this is due to aging?
And is somebody having the 3rd (Canadian) Infantry Division decals as a left over which I could purchase? If so that would be great.
Thanks in advance,

P.
