Superb, this must have been a huge amount of work & really worth it. I like the mono shot too, could you do a couple even closer from just above wave height? Have to get up on deck fast now lookin’ for Ralph

Your water effects are awesome. Would you be willing to post a tutorial as to how you create them? The whole setting is amazing.
Great nations do not fall because of external aggression; they first erode and decay inwardly, so that, like rotten fruit, they fall of themselves. The strength of a country is the sum total of the moral strength of the individuals in that country.

I can't take any credit for the water effects...here's a link to the YouTube tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoAaodEqO0gThe actual water effects start around the 7:50 mark. The process is surprisingly simple, yet effective.

Excellent work, the cruel sea is well represented, just one point, the ships derricks wouldn't be topped, they would be lowered to prevent damage in heavy weather, but this dio captures the moment in time well.

This is awesome! It's cool to see a cargo ship and an escort in the same display. The ocean effects remind me of why I'm afraid of the ocean....
Did you get this done in the last month (we started on July 1)? For some reason I had it in my mind that we just started Lend Lease last week (confused about campaigns I'm in, sorry) and there was no way you had finished it in that amount of time....
Didn't Peter do an awesome job on the Lend Lease banner

The water is exceptional, as are the ships.

Very awesome! I love it, would you be able to post some in-progress photos to show us your technique? I need to start my model, I haven't even cut any spruce yet.
Thanks,

I asked this very question on model ship forums, and checked numerous photos of Liberty Ships and other cargo vessels under way. Practice varied, although cargo booms were more often stowed in a vertical position when a horizontal position would interfere with cargo stowed on deck. Notice that the second set of cargo booms (directly before the superstructure/bridge) is stowed horizontally.

I already had the necessary kits and AM as I already had been planning a Liberty Ship in stormy seas. I just enlarged the concept and added a destroyer. The water effect itself only took a few days to complete (view the video to see how quick and easy it is!). A little over a week for each ship and under a week for the water, and...voila!

A good point well noted, it was an observation based on peace time practice, I suppose the amount of deck cargo carried during the war made some bad practice possible.
