So I was roaming around eBay and stumbled across a company called First Gear. They make commercial construction equipment in 1/34 scale diecast metal. They make things like dump trucks, trash trucks, utility bucket trucks all with the brand names.

Now I know they are not 1/35th but if people can make 1/32 fit their diorama's they might be able to use these items with a little bit of weathering they may be useful. Imagine putting a Stuart on their 1959 International Tractor with Lowboy Trailer.

BTW I am NOT selling any of these and I have nothing to do with the company. Just thought that there are many vehicles that we don't have in 1/35th. And I thought someone might find this useful.

Scott,
Thanks for posting, I think 1/34 is pretty darn close. Given a 50 foot truck trailer combo you would have about 17.15 in 1/35 and 17.64 in 1/34. 1/2 half inch is pretty small over a 17+ inch model and would be hard to tell with out some really good eyes and something to compare it to.
I've always been a fan of the construction stuff and will try to find something reasonable on ebay. Thanks for the heads up!
Cheers,
Rick

The 1/34 First Gear pieces are really nice and work perfectly with 1/35 military vehicles and figures. Similarly, I used a 1/36 excavator with my M920 MET and M870 trailer combo recently. You can see how it looks here. Near the bottom of the page starts the excavator rebuild part.

Thank you very much for sharing - the trucks look really good - very tempting to wip out the check book!

That lowboy would look good with one of those Mirror models or Miniart Cats on there. The trailer would be a good start on an M-127 trailer also. Wayne

Gino,
Congrats, that is some stellar work! Have you finished it up or is it still on the bench?
Cheers,
Rick

Thanks guys. I still haven't chained it down. I was waiting on chain in the mail and started something else. It is now on the shelf w/out being properly secured. Some NCO is going to chew Joe a new one.

well I won't hold my breath! Still waiting for a main stream dump truck (not WWII), and some earth moving equipment. I'd even like some WWII Japanese equipment. Yet my holy grail is a ten ton wrecker! Much more common than an M88, and used everywhere a wheeled vehicle could get to. Another one I'd love is the little bull dozer that was about the size of a VW bug. Sea Bees used them a lot, and they even flew them out to remote LZ's to clear firing lanes and build firing positions. We had one out every six weeks or so, and seriously kissed the guy's behind as he was a lot better than a pick and shovel.

Thanks for the heads-up on the First Gear products. Lots of potential here.

I've got a few First Gear trucks in the stash (50's era) mostly bought from eBay sellers. Their main drawback is the price. Whenever the price is reasonable, the shipping cost to France is usually prohibitive...
