Is anyone aware of any injected kits of the Canadian Ram tank? Or any 'good' conversion kits? I have found photos of a Ram in Normandy, in use by the Canadians as an OP tank. Since I am trying to model every medium tank used by the western allies, this is required. Now, if ICM would just release their Comet and Challenger 1, I'd be set.

Also, is does anyone out there have know of a site that has photos of Rams in service? Does anyone know if the Grizzly tank ever saw combat? Thanks

As far as injection kits of the RAM...I don't think so. There is a resin kit by S Models : RAM Mk II

The Grizzly's as far as I know were mainly produced for training. I do know that some were sent to British forces. How many? Not sure.

According to George Forty's M4 Sherman, Ram I and IIs were only used in training in Canada.and the UK. The Rams were known as the M4A5 in US designation. Only 188 Grizzlies were built and it is basically the Canadian built M4A1 with British type stowage, British radio (WS 19), a two inch bomb thrower (I believe they are referring to the turret mounted mortar) and Canadian CDP tracks. The Chamberlain book British and American Tanks of WW2 says that Canadian armor battalions were equipped with Grizzlies in Canada and Europe. It does comfirm that no Ram gun tank was used in combat, but Ram variants were used as Kangaroos (turretless APCs).

Either Verlinden or Commander's makes/made a "95% conversion", it required suspension and track from Tamiya M3 Lee/Grant to build Ram. Everything else came in kit. I had one but traded it away. Found mine at a swap meet.

In the Concord book ' D-Day Tank Warfare, Armored Combat in the Nomandy Campaign June-August 1944' by Steven J. Zaloga & George Balin, on page 24, upper-left photo, there is a photo of a Ram tank. The authors admit that Rams never saw combat in TANK units, then go on to say that "small numbers were used in SELF-PROPELLED ARTILLERY REGIMENTS by troop commanders in lieu of Shermans as the Ram OP". The photos in this book are in approx cronological order and this photo is well after the photos of vehicles and crews in training in England.
