Hey what type track did the USMC Pacific Shermans use?

It's so confusing! I have the Tamiya M4A3 kit and am wondering what type track it uses.

Please help!

The most common type used on the M4A3 was the metal chevron T54E1. On Okinawa they were often fitted with extended end connectors.

The same goes for Iwo Jima regarding extended end connectors. The USMC did not use the M4A3 in any prior campaigns/battles, with the M4A2 being their main type used.

In late 44 the marines replaced their M4A2 with the M4A3

That would make sense timewise, and give them time to familiarize with and train upon the type, as well as add their mods such as the planking and nails/screening.. But from what I’ve read on AARs, they first used the M4A3 in battle at Iwo Jima. And I do believe that they still had some small hatch A2s at Iwo Jima in photos. During their last major fight of 1944 at Peliliu, the tank units there had M4A2s.

There was a memoir by a Marine tanker that said his unit got new M4A3's and gave their surviving M4A2's to a sister battalion. I believe that the Marines would have used M4A2's if they had been deployed to fight in Japan.

At Okinawa, the 1st tank battalion kept their M4A2s. The 6th tank battalion selected new M4A3 tanks. The decision to simplify and focus on M4A3 production meant those were the only new tanks available towards the end of the war.
