Dear all,
Building the old Airfix QL I would like to break the all over lime colour of the combination truck and gun.
Therefore I was wondering if the gun on the Bedford portee could have kept its original colour?
And if so, would it be the British version of OD or green bronze?
Thanks for helping me.
Enjoy the weekend,

Paul

Most likely to have been painted (at the factory) in the prevailing scheme for the theatre to which it was being sent.

SCC15 was introduced in 1944, long after the N African campaign was over and DBG was introduced after that, so pretty unlikely to have been either of those.

It may be lost in translation but ‘lime colour’ to me means a green. Surely Light Stone, Portland Stone or Desert Pink would be more likely, depending on time period?

Could be, or lime wood. Either way, there is the risk of finding the wrong thing if you look for a match to a colour that the country of origin described in a specific way.

Dear all,

Thanks for helping me!
As a non-native speaker I am aware that confusion may occur due to mishapps while translating.
I used the colour “lime” as in “lime stone”!
(Though a happy lemon green would have been something different in my collection....)

So, summarizing:
The instructions recommend Airfix Buff M14
This is converted to Humbrol 74, which equals Vallejo 916 “matt linen”.

Your English is some way ahead of my Dutch, I assure you😉

I suggest looking at Mike Starmer’s article on the MAFVA website https://www.mafva.org/british-vehicle-camouflage-1939-45/?v=79cba1185463

You can then pick a suitable colour for your period and it has paint matches too, as Mike has been researching the subject for years.

Opened, copied, printed and glued to my working bench!

The Guns were in Lt Stone during the Desert Campaign, just about all the Mk II guns whether from hte US or UK were delivered to the desert in lt Stone. My Favourite OOB for this was the Old Testors Enamel Lt Stone Gulf
