It looks pretty cool. I bet one of the newer model companies (Meng, Takom, etc..) will jump on this and offer a kit of it soon.

Looks like a little late night hanky panky in the motorpool, between an M113 and a Palidan! HA HA

Looks like the Bradley got in on that action too.

So anyone know what the details are about it? Are those fuel tank cells at the rear?

I take it that it's essentially a Bradley chassis with the turret removed and a raised armored shelter installed and has attachment points for ERA. But does it have Blast Seats and a V-Hull? Is the front hull slope tarp covering a driver's navigation camera system?

It looks pretty neat and useful and could be Plan B if the NGCV/ OMFV fails.

Pretty much exactly right. I was working as a Systems Engineering consultant at the Ground Combat Systems PEO in Warren in 2008 when it was decided by the Army that it had to get rid of the M113 family of vehicles in the Heavy Brigades.
I told the PEO that this was EXACTLY the way to get there (in much the same way that the Army created the variants of the M113 back in the 1960's which is what they were replacing.)

And now, a mere TWELVE YEARS LATER, AMPV is going into production.

You can expect that there will be a "Command Post" vehicle (ala M-577), a medical treatment and a medical evacuation vehicle, mortar carrier, and a "utility" vehicle to replace the stock M113's being used for that.

Possibly in another 12 years.

All five types were approved and are going into production. Pics of the prototypes for each version have been shown in prior AMPV Posts.

They're all neat-looking tracks and I look forward to 1/35 styrene of all of them.

Looking at the 5 Brads, I can only think of the movie Pentagon Wars. After decades they finally made the replacement for the M113.

I'm very surprised not to see a TOW variant with an ITV or TUA turret on it.

No need. There haven't been M901 ITOWs in the US inventory since the mid-'90s. We are still keeping IFV and CFV Bradleys w/TOW for actually engaging the enemy. These will replace M113s in support roles.
