Dear all!

Best 1/35 M60A3 kit? Tamiya, AFV Club, Italeri etc?

Thanks in advance!

I thought that the Revell kit was better than the Tamiya kit but the tracks were terrible!! I'm hoping that Takom will come out with one soon because they just came out with the M60A1.

I just build AFV Club M60A1 Magach. For 55 Euros, I got excellent plastic parts, turned aluminium barrel, vinyl mantlet cover and PE parts.Parts are crisp and fine detailed.
Some may say that that the casting is a little rough but I fell in love with the kit. Highly recommend this one.

AFV Club, hands down. It is light years beyond the old Tamiya, Academy, or Esci/Italeri/Revell kits.

AFV Club and its not even close. yes the texture is a little heavy on the turret and glacis but you can easily tone it down with some light sanding or Mr. surfacer

depends on what you want...

Want 'hyper' detailed go for the AFV club M60A3 kit

If not go for the Italeri (ex Esci) M60A3 kit

Want 'shake & bake' the Tamiya M60A3 is your kit

In the end they all look the part in my humble opinion.

Sam.

I agree with the exception of the shake and bake part about the Tamiya kit. Italeri is better in every aspect. They both need some tweaks (easily done) but nothing major.

The AFV club kit is great, the rubber band tracks are not up to my taste (my peculiarity though).

In the end, it all depends on your badget and what you want to do with your build.

The Tamiya is a new turret on a 1970 motorized kit with many omissions that actually leave it harder to build than the Italeri/Esci/Revell.

The old Esci is the shake and bake not the Tamiya which is better left alone. There's so much work to be done that you'll be kicking yourself for not getting an Esci one.

The Afv-club kit is 21st century with everything you could ever want. They also have the link to link track needed to fix the others and it's so easy to link it up and go.

I have the AFV kit and a Takom M60A1. The Takom kit has extra parts that belong on an A3 so I believe an A3 is on the way sometime in the future if you want to wait. After looking over both kits and having built the Tamiya and Esci kits my conclusion is forget them both. The AFV kit has the detail hands down. All the handles are separate on the engine deck and the drivers compartment is all there, I used to drive them. That makes the kit a bit fiddly and complicates the build. Takoms detail is excellent but some detail is molded on. Both kits come with band tracks but Takom uses a pin to join them AFV is the old glue or melt. Either will build an excellent model, Takom will be a bit easier to build when it comes out. If you need one now AFV.

While it is certainly possible an -A3 will eventually come out, the kit really has all the parts to make an -A1 Rise/Passive. All they need to do is swap tracks. A pretty easy boxing. Although an -A3 wouldn't be too challenging as well.

The only external difference would be the wind sensor and the right side rangefinder blister the majority of the changes were internal.

Does the Takom M60A1 kit has the needed parts to change it into a M60A1 RISE(P) version?

The Tamiya M60A3 MBY Kit rides a little too high, which always catches my eye as being way off, along with the cupola, which lacks some minor details.

I’m hoping that Takom does come out with a “Straight” M60, a M60A2 and the M60A3 in the near future!!
