Hi all,
Along the lines of the Italeri Stug post. I can get this kit for $10AUD, which is a bargain. Is the Italeri schwimwagen a good version? As it is what I am after? It also comes with three blokes, and a bicycle. I know one of the fellas is falschirmjager. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers

hi wolff,
the italeri kit is not well-detailed as tamiya schwimwagen but can be used in dioramas because of easy built advantage. it has 3 figures ;a luftwaffe pilot telling about a dog fight with opened arms, a luftwaffe lady personel and a fallschirmjager with a bicycle. I built this kit before and planning to make a vignette with it for a softskin group built. this is the one i built, can give you an opinion.more in my gallery

Thanks GW,
That looks good. For $10, it will be good for practice. What sort of details are missing or different from the Tamiya?
Cheers

Not a bad deal, remember as you build it, the kit is over 25 years old so don't expect today's bells ands whistles. It is better, however, that the original Tamiya kit, IMHO.

I'm building one right now, got it for about 7$ (our regular price). In my opinion the kit is very nice since I'm not that detail guy, just be careful with lower hull 'cause you get a nice seam right in the middle, but a little sanding and putty will hide the thing. Good thing about the kit is also that you get some accessories, bicycle, two k98s, mp40 and 3 figures.

I know what you mean, I've had to use a bit of putty to close up some gaps where the parts don't quite join, mainly just the wheel arches though. It just adds to the fun though. Its a goo dlittle kit for beginners like me.
cheers

I have a version of the kit in my gallery. I wanted to post the picture here, but I only get red X's. So please visit my gallery if you wanto...

Its build out of the box to the Amphibs campaign. In my opinion the figures in this kit are awfull. Only the female figure can be used, with some minor modifications, but the two Luftwaffe men needs more than painting skills. Thats only my opinion. They could be useful for practicing. The bicycle that goes along with the kit are useful as well.

Anyways; considering the age of this kit its still usefull and quite good.

Good luck with it.
