REFORGER 84 was one of those indelible portions of my time in the Army. Nice to see a few photos from there on the link.

Brilliant images; I can almost smell the wet Hessian and cam nets. I was never involved in a REFORGER, but certainly more than my fair share of SUMMER/WINTER SALES, some ABLE ARCHERS, some WINTEXs, some BOLD GUARDS and the occasional ADVENT EXPRESS.
Dear God, was it all so long ago?

Some really great pictures here but I must admit I enjoy the older images of the earlier REFORGER series if only for the preponderance of the MASSTER camouflage scheme, which must be one of the best finishes for models ever(!)
Whilst not a REFORGER, I remember as a very young soldier observing some attached US troops to our exercise (presumably the nuclear surety people but I'm not certain) and marvelling at the painted camouflage on their vehicles, thinking "Wow, the Yanks have really got their act together". Our own vehicles were still being converted from glossy Bronze Green to the matt black and green finish now so representative of the British Army, but back then all fascinating to my 17 year old eyes. It just didn't occur to me to get hold of a camera, there was, after all, so very much to learn.
