Hello,
I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has had experience with AK Interactive Ultra Varnish Matte? If so, how do you apply it?
Do you apply a couple of light coats during an airbrushing session or can you apply more than that? Also, is there an issue with the white frosty look after applying it?
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
I have been using this product for a little over 2 years now and I must say as the name implies,
Ultra Matte!...never had flatter results!
I like to thin it slightly down with distilled water so this allows me to put down the final
2-3 coats so that the model is evenly covered without excess build up.
I have not had any issues with a white frosty look.
That might be happening because you are shooting too far from the
model and the varnish is partially dried when it hits the model.
Cheers,

It's great stuff. Been using it for years, never with a frosty finish. I have sprayed it and brushed it with good results.

I know with some other brands like Testors,a frosty finish could be from being improperly mixed or sprayed from too far away
My go to flat finish is Alclad really a dead flat

I've used it several times - both brush and airbrush. No problems whatsoever. I put two mixing balls in the bottle and mix very well. And very lightly thinned.
Years ago using Testor's Dullcoat would sometimes get some of that white look - seemed to have something to do with humidity.
