I've been meaning to ask this forever, and I finally remembered. German WWII airplanes were marked with the cross (balkenkreuze (sp?)) and also a swastika on the tail. However, tanks have the cross, but I can't recall ever seeing one with the swastika. Can anyone explain why this was the case? Thank you.

ISTR that the Luftwaffe was the most "political" arm of the Germany military, hence the reason why the Swastika was on German aircraft. That being said, German tanks sometimes, especially early on in the war, use national flags (with the Swastika) for aerial recognition purposes.

Damon.
