Hi all,
I'm trying to get my M1 ready for the Abrams build, I'm getting further & further behind as I'm still practicing with my airbrush on another kit.
My question is:
When painting the vynil tracks will the paint flake as they are shiny plastic with nothing much for the paint to adhere to? I'm trying to get a set of ebay @ the moment similair to AFV ones. Any tips will be greatfully taken as I'm quickly going bald
Kenny.
Update:
I'm using the new Tamiya OIF kit .

The answer...maybe. I have never run into problems with Tamiya kit tracks. Academy is a different story, as those tend to flake. Which kit are you using?

one way that i have found to get around that problem, is to apply a light brown / tan artist oil wash over the tracks first. let it dry thoroughly. then i paint the track pads either testor engine grey or a lightened black. apply a 2nd wash, then dry brush.

I have found, with older Tamiya kits, that oil-based paints, will flake after time. The paint reacts with the rubber/plastic in the track.
Apparently, acrylic paints do not have a problem with reacting with the tracks.
All of my recent armor builds have been with plastic tracks, so I do not have recent experience with newer one piece track.
