I am building a Tiger and am almost ready to paint. As I don't have an airbrush yet I will be hand painting it. I have found a good picture of a side view of a Tiger, B&W unfortunately. I like the cammo pattern (appears to be painted on with mop or the like) and although the caption says its dk yellow, red brown and green, its hard to tell if there are more than two tones along the side hull. There appears to be a darker colour on the turret though. This is probably a dumb question as its B&W, but could anyone hazard a guess as to what is the green and what is the redbrown (if any of the latter). My feeling is that the green is along the side, without red brown, and there is red brown and green on the turret. Any thoughts on this long winded question would be appreciated. It's the 9th tank down, 131 of sPzAbt 101, Normandy, July 1944.

Wolff,
The "LATE" camo scheme on the TigerI would be Dark Yellow with Red Brown and Dark Green or Olive Green blotches.. The poor quality of the paintjob in the pic might be just that as many tanks were often painted and repainted in the field to meet whatever the need was at the time. That particular paintjob might very well have been applied with a mop..lol
The other option on a "LATE" Tiger would also be the Yellow base with "EITHER" the Green or the Brown also.. It's up to you
Hope this helps.

Thanks Harry,
I like the look of all three colours, I'll give it a shot. BTW, I had a look at your tigers, very nice indeed.
Cheers

I think those were the only colors that were around in tigers. Isn't it funny how some people(including me) want to go for a perfect camo pattern, softly sprayed with an airbrush, when it could be called inaccurate.

Well, I've gone for the green 'mop' cammo, and it's not soft around the edges, but it looks a bit like the photo I was using.
