For Pz.Sfl.Ia 5cm Pak 38 on gp.Mun.Schlepper.After the victory in the west, on July 5, 1940 the In 6 commissioned Wa Prüf to develop a light tank destroyer. This should be intended for the airborne troops and the non-motorized infantry divisions. WaPrüf has commissioned Rheinmetall-Borsig to develop the 5 cm Pak 38 L / 60 on the chassis of the ammunition tractor from Borgward. In order to save weight, a Schottenpanzer with two 4 mm thick armor plates at the front and for the gun as well as two 3 cm armor plates on the sides and rear was required. This thickness is enough that they were 7.92mm SMK safe.
The chassis was a modified VK 3.02 ammunition tractor, powered by a 2.3 liter Borgward 50 HP engine that enabled the 4.5 ton vehicle to reach a speed of 30 km / h. The crew consisted of 3 men (commander / gunner, driver and loader. In the tank program 41 of May 30, 1941, the demand for this vehicle is given as 3144 units. Production was planned to start in 1943 with an output of 100 units from April 1, 44 and from 200 pieces from April 1, 45.
Two experimental devices were manufactured by July 1, 42 and scanned for troop testing. On August 8, 1942, the 19th Panzer Division reported about the vehicles, but the report is lost.

Im keen as this is a built and fielded, albeit only two, improvised anti-tank tank(?). PLus, And this surprised me, there is a walk around complete with interior view, too, on the interweb.
