When something is 1/35 is it 1/35th its size or does 1 inch equal 35 in on teh original. Sorry for the basic question. For you math whizzes how do you convert a measurement into a specific scale. Ex if I know a belt buckle is 20mm how do find out how big it should be in 1/35th scale?

1/35 scale means one inch in scale equals thirty five inches in full scale. Or, one centimeter in scale equals thirty five centimeters in full size. One inch equals approx 89 centimeters (or 890 millimeters) if you want to do conversions.

If you have something that is 20 millimeters to find out what size it would be in scale you divide the full scale measurement by 35 regardless of what measuring system you are using. However, you cannot mix Imperial (inches) and metric unless you convert. For example if something is nine feet long (108 inches) to find out how long it is in scale divide the total full scale inches by 35 to get approx 3 inches. If it is 20mm in full scale divide by 35 and you get approx. .6mm in miniature scale. (.6mm is about .02 inches)

Scale is not size. It is a ratio. 54mm is a size and not a scale. The scale for 54mm is approx. 1/32.

Here is a web site for metric conversion.. Here is an imperial scale calculator.

Here is a donwloadable scale calculator which does both imperial and metric scale conversions.

Yes, of course. I think what I meant to say was that one inch equals thirty five inches in scale or in metric conversion approximately 89 centimeters (890mm).
