Hi

I too have a VL and am having trouble being able to get a consistent flat coat for my base coat. I'm having trouble using the single action thumb screw feature.
How do I use this feature, or "turn it off" when I dont want to use it? Do I turn this little screw to the right or left to use the airbrush in the single action mode which will give me a consistent amount of paint to paint the base coat.

Also any other tips on being able to achieve a nice flat coat without pooling or other problems. For those you have or used a VL, what needle sizes did you use for different instances (basecoating, weathering, overdusting, etc etc).

Sorry for so many question
Thanks in advance for everyones help

I'm spraying mostly tamiya acrylics, diluted with Tamiya thinner about 50/50....and spraying at 18-20 PSI.

Personaly I've had NO luck using Tamiya paints....... unless it's for a cast surface look. I had to thin mine down to 70/30 Thinner / paint to get it to spray.

Start with thumb wheel rolled all the way to the left....then push your trigger down... but don't pull back on trigger. Then start turning the thumb wheel to the right till you start to get paint while trigger is down. Fine tune for how much paint you want.

I never use the single action... after time you will get a feel for spraying even amounts every time.

I use Tamiya paints with my VL... and don't have problems with them.
