(stands up) Hello, my name is Doc, and I'm...(gulp!)...errr...I'm a ShermAholic. (sits down)
It all started a long time ago. I thought I could quit after just one. I started with the Italeri M4A1. I know, the turret is the wrong shape and the decals are an example of 'creative' markings, but it was soo good for it's time. The Tamiya M4A3 soon followed. Then the M-7 Priest. I could stop at any time. I really could. But I didn't want to. Then the Kangeroo. Then the Calliope. Then the first of many Fireflys. Soon I was making trips to the local National Guard Armory to touch a real Sherman. I even proposed to my wife in the park next to an old M4A3.
The Tamiya M4 soon followed, the the ancient M3 Lee. I was in deep, too deep. Other modelers were sent into hissy fits by the latest German kits, but I remained unfazed. I have now gone off the deep end. I've gone too far now. I have enough M3/M4 based kits to last me a life time. Maybe more. After moving disasters, with many losses, this is where I stand now.
I have only 3 kits built at the moment (M4A3, M4A1 and M4A3E2 jumbo) and a staggering 17 DIFFERANT kits unbuilt. (this list inlcudes, Calliope, Lee, Grant, M4A3E8, Achilles, M10, M4A4, Firefly Ic, Early M4A1, HVSS POA, New M4A3, M4A3 105, M4, Marine M4, Firefly Vc, M32 & M12) I can't wait to get another M7. Then I'll be done. Until Academy releases their M36. Of course I'll get two to make a M36B1. That'll need a M4A3 kit too, for the hull. I should get the High Speed Tractor by AFV Club, too. And of course their M40, when it is released. I should look into a Ram and Grizzly, also. Can't live without them. Maybe a CDL Lee/Grant. Or possibly a M31. But then I am done. That'll be all I need. I can stop at any time. Yup, anytime...

Given the age of quite a few modelers I've talked to, I should still have 40 or 50 years
modeling time left ! That should leave me enough time to finish a few kits...

I'm not a Shermanaholic either - but after joining this forum and reading all the good stuff posted by other modelers about the subject I did build my first M4-based armor in the M10 Tank Destroyer, and I got the M4 75mm (Mid), M4A1, and M12 155mm GMC going because I liked it.
Maybe in time I'll admit to the malady too...

My dear Doc, we must be sharing the same room at the (mental?) hospital. You see, I got back into armor last winter after 20 years of airplanes. Completed I have:
Italeri M36B1 converted to M36 with scratchbuilt upper hull
DML M4A4
In process I have:
Tamiya M4A3 building with TTW conversion as M4A3E2 Jumbo
Tamiya M4 Early with TTW turret as Firefly Ic
DML Firefly Vc with AA upgrade and CMD turret/barrel
DML M4A3E8 with homemade racks for sandbags
Awaiting action I have:
Academy M10 Achilles
Academy M12 GMC
Academy M51 Isherman
DML Firefly Ic Hybrid
Italeri M32 with TTW early resin hull
Tamiya M26 Dragon Wagon (OK; not a Sherman; but ya gotta carry one somehow)
On order with Dave T . (SS-74) from Hong Kong where kits are cheap:
DML M50 Super Sherman
Academy M10
Soon to be on order with hometown hobby shop:
Academy M36, whenever it sees the light of day. I'll take two...
Italeri M4A2; which will also need a correct 56-degree welded hull from somebody like TTW.
Not to mention the books, decals, resin stowage sets, and figures. This disease progresses frighteningly fast, for all this damage ha been done in less than eight months...

"What does a sherman have that I don't have anyways" she asked in her most voluptuous voice...."Fire power baby, just good old fire power" he replied with a wink and a smile and a quick tip of his hat.

Well, maybe I do have a problem. See, I have an additional 9 built tanks and 34 unbuilt kits. This is not counting the vehicles listed in my first post. I have built Panthers, Tigers, Panzer IV F2 my Italeri Jpz IV L/70 even won first place in my local hobby shops modeling contest. ( I really thought my Jumbo was gonna get it. Probably lost becuase I used those Thick *ss Tamiya decals) This list includes five T-34s, one SU100, one IS2, one BT7, one ISU152, one KV14, one T35 (one very big T35) and one KV1. Built Russian? one each KV2, IS1 and T34.
But this is all I want. Really. Well, maybe a Comet. And the M40. (Already got the M12) Already have the M24...could use an M5..maybe an M8 GMC. Have the Churchill built, need a Croc. Of course of Challenger 1. Maybe an Archer. But thats it. No more! (sigh)
Think I need a hug (sniff)
