Ok guys,
Heres another question.I just bought my first set of Collector's Brass 50cal.Its great and I have no complaints but I noticed in many pictures of 50 cals that there is some sort of handle on gun right under and between the barrel and body. This 50 cal doesnt have it nor the others they offer.I only see it on plastic and resin kits.Do they need it or not really. If they do anyone got a good idea of adding one to this gun.Post a pic if you can because I have no scanner or camera to do it .So we are on the same subject. Its for the M4A3 Im building.
Thanx,
AJ

I think you mean the handle that is on the end of the barrel. its to change barrels without burning yr hands their was a discussion about this topic a while back, I think everyone said something else but if you are gonna make a combat dio put it on, I think it will be nasty to be under fire with an overheated barrel and you cant find the thingy to change it

Hi AJ:
I believe the handle you are refering to is the one seen in this picture:
It is a grab handle for changing the barrel. (You wouldn't want to touch a hot barrel).
I've seen pictures of 50 cals with them and without them, so I'm sure you would be safe to leave it off. If you did want to add it for an extra touch, you could probably just use thin wire to shape it. I too just recently built the M4A3 (Tamiya Kit). I used the Eduard PE set which had that part included for the gun modifications.
Hope this helps.
John

When I built my AFV-club achilles with eduard PE-set, I ruined the etched barrel changing handle so I made a new one from thin wire. Sure looks better than a dead flat PE part.

The handle on the barrel is not entirely required. When I had M2 .50 cal mounted on my M113A1s, we did not always leave on the handle. I found it easier to use th abestos glove that came witht eh gun to change the barrel.
This is just to say, as stated by others, you do not need the handel to be authentic.
