Hey guys I got some Questions on the Shermans. Here we go first:
I want to build a Sherman jumbo tank and I ask before the Tamiya out of the box is in accurate so that option is out.So there are to Conversions the Tank Workshop and the Blast.
Which is better?
I saw the reveiw on Perth military site the Blast conv. is for any M4A3 Tamiya kit. Right?
With what kit do I need to use the TWS conv. with .Would the orginal Jumbo by Tamiya qualify.
Ok the blast has everything I need besides the tank but the resin is to soft for me but I am going to have to get used to it huh. Also it is expensive $70 plus tax at Mission Models.
The Tank Workshop is cheaper but certainly does not have all the accessories like the Blast.
So whats the verdict?
Next and final :
Ok on Modelling the US army website the correction of the turret cheek armor is it really necessary? I want accuracy but really will anybody notice besides judges at competitions.Hollowpoint reccomended me to do this so what do the rest of you think?
Go the whole nine yards.Or what
Here is the list of what is going on the Tank:
M4A3 breakthrough (of course)
T-48 Fruil tracks
M4A3 update by Blast models
Eduard PE
Fine Molds 75mm barrel ( Whats the difference between this barrel and thr Jordi Rubio? The Price $10 as to $6 Got it from Mission told Jon to give me the best what makes it the best?
Sponsons by Formations
Tow cables by Formations? Maybe
Antenna by Formations ? Maybe
50 cals by Collector Brass
30 cal coaxil by Collectors Brass
Does it need anymore???
Almost $200 bucks
The Sherman rules but it took my pocket and wallet hostage.LOL

AJ,
The Tamiya Sherman is meant to be used for the TWS Jumbo conversion. There are several parts you can get from TWS. They have a turret (comes with barrel), upper hull wheels and a transmission cover. You can get them separately or in a combined kit. I have seen the turret, wheels and transmission cover. They look very good. I have never seen the Blast conversion. I think the TWS is $33.60 for the whole set at Hometown Hobbies. Hope this helps.

If it was my model, I'd probably go with the Blast kit -- it looks good and has lots of detail.
As far as the cheek bulge and all the other fiddly bits go, that is a matter of personal choice. You need to decide how far you want to go with detailing any model you build -- it doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks. Build what makes you happy.

You know Hollow Point is right on both counts ...You will probably only build one Jumbo in your lifetime ...why not go with the best ...You have seen the details on the Blast detail set for theM4A3, so you know it will be a really nice kit.... As for the added armor on the M4A3 well with all the add ons you are putting into it I would do it ,just because I know it should be there and why not take a few minutes to fix it. But it is your kit and you have to decide.

If you are looking for accuracy and simply amazing level of detail you should certainly go with the Blast conversion. Look at this comparison that my buddy and I did of the Blast, TWS, and Verlinden conversions: http://www.tankshack.com/. Click on the link "The Jumbo Sherman Reviews" on the right in the "What's New at Tankshack" section. Basically, there is no real comparison. The Blast conversion is worlds better.
