Excellent bottle technique!!! Wished it would have come sooner!!! If no one minds I would like to add, have you thought of dipping the finished bottle in future floor wax to give it that added gloss of glass that is what I have been doing with the bottle I'm currently making for Carentan.

You can also use the stretched-sprue method (as for antennas, etc.) using scrap clear sprue from windshields, although the bottles won't be hollow. As wine bottles are made of tinted glass, you can use the green or brown sprue to make them, or white sprue for milk bottles. For added detail, ream out the neck of the bottle with a very fine drill bit.

I got one problem with this one. The sprue is flatter on one side. what can I do to fix this problem?

Maybe you could jam a piece of streched sprue in while you melt it to help it hold its shape.

There are good ideas and there are great ones which usually are the simplest.
This belongs firmly in the Great idea catagory.
It is so simple it makes you wonder why nobody has thought of it before.

Even I could manage this...without burning the house down...lol.

Sorry! Forgot to mention that it only works well with round-section sprue. Unless you want square bottles. Milk bottles were square, and some liquor bottles are also square.

Great idea on how to make something so simple. I try not to spend money on some of the smaller stuff and am always looking to find things around the house to use instead. Drives the wife crazy but she does help find things too. Another simple idea to get the color on the bottle is to use food coloring in future and paint in on the outside of the bottle, it gives a glossy colored finish to the end product. Also filling the bottle with milliput gives the bottle some weight like it is full. Hope this helps out too.

Okay... this is simply brilliant. Between Piwi and Biggles, we've pretty much got bottles covered, here. One more thing to bring many dios to life!

All these ideas are great. Almost burnt my fingertips off though ha ha. And try looking for already colored sprue's or plastic so you don't have to use up all your pens, i have some from car model's
