Howdy modeling friends,

simple question this time. Last couple of days Armorama has difficulty to appear on my screen.... All my internet pages and searches are at perfectly normal speed, but Armorama seems to be slowing down to me. Slow page builds, long login time etc.

Is it just on my machine (PC, WinXP and a 10Mbps cable connection), or does anybody experiences the same ?

If it's just my machine, does anybody has some tips on how to speed up things ? The cable and the machine are fast enough...so it must be some software setting here or there...

I also have a cable connection and this happened to me a couple of times. I just left for a while and tried getting on again and I could, quick as ever, though, so it was only temporary.

There must have been some major traffic in the neighborhood, I've been also bogged down with lagging speeds...

I basically have the same set-up Eagle, and as Folgore said, occassionally it slows up a bit.
Even though a cable connection is much faster than most, it's still a 'communal' connection.
Meaning, that the more people on, the slower it get's.
But it's still faster than most!

Tread.

When that happens, I just restart and it rights itself most of the time....I did say most.

Nope. No problems here. Armorama's been loading up just fine and dandy for me. Even though I've been surfing on here much lately...

Like Tread said, Cable connections are shared connections. Time of day and week will have a great impact on connection speeds. Typically evenings and weekends are the best times as less people are sharing the connection.

One more thing which might help out with speeding things up.
Check to make sure that your "Temporary Internet Files Folder" is set to 80megs or less. While having more may seem like it will speed things up because they are stored for faster retreval, this is not the case and could and will slow it down.

I never have an internet probelm, I don't have a computer. I'm using a cell phone and a micro wave oven, connected to my 10 speed bike You would have to see it to believe it. It's a McGyver thing. #:-)

Wanna sell it Rufus ? Like Tread said... Touché ! :-)

The speed seems to be getting back to normal now. It's still not at 100%, but I can live with the current speed.

Thx for the reply guys.

It is slowing down for me, also. Last night it was fine.
Perhaps the Armorama ISP is having problems?

It's running really slow for me today as well. This morning and right now. Though it appears to be getting better....hopefully.

I bet that some joker is running one of those offline explorers on the site trying to download the whole thing. When people used to do this on my site it would behave the same way. An example of these programs are Offline Explorer and Teleport.

Jim, contact me, I have developed a fool-proof way of defeating these things now.

Got some beautiful tip this afternoon.....some guy told me to remove the cookie.....and then log in again.

I didn't believe a word of what he was saying, but hey....I removed the cookie and tried to log in.....

and...

******* THE LIGHTNING SPEED IS BACK *******

Is it luck, or did the cookie-removal did the trick ? I think I never will know the answer to that, but hey.....it's there again.

Thanks for all the replies guys !

and now......like lightning to another post....

What would captianJack say about this if he was in my place ?

??? Jack be Back ??? #:-)

I find Armorama to be slower than most sites that i usually visit, even at the best of times. When I come on at peak times and its slow, I usually dont bother and come back later when things quieten down. Although Im new to this site (relitively) this is becoming my number 1 site to visit now. Something is working right then!
