I was perusing HLJ and saw this:

Sure looks nice but 43.50 US for a braille scaler?

I've come to expect outrageous prices for resin models. I just think of something like this as more of an art piece than as a model (I know this distinction is completely arbitrary). It does look like it has good detailing. I suppose if you added up the AM accessories for a super-detailed Revell or Hasegawa kit it would be possible to achieve the $30+ range.

There is no way in H*** that I would pay that much for a 1/76 scale kit. Resin or otherwise. I bet if somebody took there sweet time about things, they could crank out a very nice model of the same offering in plastic. I just dont see $43 for something that small. Regardless of how well the castings are. Ok, I'm done ranting. "Q"

OMFG
No way. Revell plastic models are way cheaper. And they come with plastic tracks.

you're looking at three things:
1. It is made in Japan, where things are expensive and the dollar is not as good there right now. I remember when, not too long ago, this kit woud have been running closer to US$32...
2. It is a japanese tank (ie obscure to most of the rest of the world) that did not distinguish itself. This means that it can only expect low sale numbers, hence a higher price.
3. This is a QUALITY 1/76 resin kit, with many features in proper scale. And with the level of detail they show AND the way they are casting, I am sure they have a lot of miscast parts they are throwing out = higher price.
I am quite sure it is well worth the money/trouble IF you love 1/76 japanese tanks.

I saw one of these kits in the box at AMPS.
Had I the cash to spare, I'd have bought it. And I'm more or less a 1/72 purist when it comes to braille-scale.
But it really is that good. If you like the subject, you'll get your money's worth.

Wow, twice the cost of the ExtraTech M36 Jackson, and I thought that kit was just a bit pricey. Looks good, but I'd rather have the kit in 1/72 than 1/76.
