Hey dudes,

I use my Azteck A470 for work a lot and use lacquers.I airbrush Gold trimming on Old French provecinal furniture. So I used got great results and used the recommended nozzel for the job. Then bam the grey nozzel just stopped spraying paint. It sprays air but no paint.

Is this normal ?

Would the lacquer be the problem?

I actually cleaned the airbrush and nozzels with acetone and no problems just this one.

Any suggestions on what to do just dont use lacquers any more?

I have the Model Master hand book and it gives the ok on the lacquer use with the grey nozzel.

Thanx for your replies.

Could be two things:

1. Paint is not thinned well and the paint's path from the cup is blocked.

2. The nozzle itself is clogged. I routinely disassemble the nozzle against Aztek's wishes. The nozzle has three parts: outer shell, needle and spring. I gently pull out the needle from the shell, making sure that the spring is still attached to the needle. Then I wash the parts in thinner. After cleaning the parts I reinsert the needle into the shell and push until it clicks. The nozzle should give you no problems then.

I've had this problem once or twice after spraying Future or matte varnish. Apparently I didn't clean the nozzle well enough because the needle was stuck. Air was coming out but no paint. After a while I noticed that the needle didn't move when I pulled the trigger. After some soaking and gently nudging the needle it started to work. You could try pushing the needle in from the sharp end. I used a pencil's side.

Had to be really careful not to damage the needle. I thought the pencil material was soft enough for the sharpest part to sting and still provide enough pushing power. I wouldn't recommend that method unless you are in a real hurry. Taking the nozzle apart is probably safer even if Aztek don't recommend it.

I've had the issue of the gray nozzle spraying air but not paint. When I contacted Testors they said to soak it in airbrush cleaner overnight. I did and it cleared it up. This is when spraying acrylics but I would think it would be the same with your application.
