I posted some photo's of my Pharmacy for Carentan in my gallery, it is not finished but I would welcome any comments. The details are coming (hope to have completed photo's sometime this weekend) I have carved bottles out of clear acyrlic rod, and they are in a dye solution. There are a number of stock items, along with a mortar and pestle, and contemplating a style of scale to use. The carving is finally done on the cobblestones and base painted. The two unfinished pieces of furniture are cabinets still awaiting glass doors. I'm hoping to finish the Pharmacy (lower level this weekend) and start the replacement Cafe, the cat decided it was a toy and sent the original crashing to the ground|:( while we out one day. Slow going as I don't get as much time to work as I would like.

The TILE flooring is AWSOME! Was the tile flooring hand carved or can it be ordered?

I can't seem to get the pics in your gallery up? The thumbnails are there but for some reason the main pic will not show? Anybody else having this problem?

The tile floor is a plastistruc product, available at most hobby stores and internet sites. I have have checked the photo's from a remote site and they load for me, but if anyone else is having the problem please let me know. I as of yet figured out how to get them in the forum, if someone could assist I would appreciate it.

The tile floor was a plastistruc tile floor, I cheated I admit but the painting was sure a chore with all the masking and cutting that had to be done, Thanks for posting those Faust, I really have to get that figure out, I hope to get much more done this weekend and get the photo's posted. When I go to do the second story I'm torn of wether or not to shorten the second flooor to revel a little more ( or would it look funny?) of the first floor does anyone have an opinion, or should I keep it the same as the first?

Great work. Hey, it's not cheating to use a store-bought item in a dio. Where is it written that everything has to be scratch-built? I buy some items and make some items either when I want to, or when I can't buy something that would either be beyond my skills to make or not worth the effort. I spent about 150 hours on a tree, because I needed the tree to be just so to "fit" my dio, and I convinced myself I enjoyed every minute of it. Yeah, right.
I can't see myself making 1/35th scale rats (thanks to Plus Model), or window frames (Grandt) or fasteners (Grandt, again).
Besides, taking a Plastruct sheet and then using your research, imagination, time and skill to paint what you did is the real skill. Go for it, and keep us posted.

What's supposed to be happening in the dio? Paras attacking? Paras after the attack?

It's going to be very simalar to the opening scene of Band of Brothers, part 3 Carentan. The 101st is leading the frontal assault on the MG position in the "Cafe de Normandie". For more details you can look at my gallery posting to see the overall layout. Thanks for the comments.

Really enjoying the pics of the buildings!! The tile floor looks great! I second
the notion that the styrene is not "cheating". I've used it for interior flooring
before but never thought of the idea of laying it angled and painting pavers
to make a pattern. The styrene may not be scratch, but it's definitely a
"scratch" idea and usage in my eyes..Keep up the great work and hope
the bottles turn out well..

Great work, Paul !

The tile pattern looks fantastic; but the view through the window looks even better (reminds me of a photo of a pharmacie in Paris I saw once ...)
And I also couldn't see your thumbnails

Keep it up

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. The "stock" for the store will be a combination of various bottles, boxes, and if I can create them well may be some tins. Still need to do the scale. I have most of the bottles done but still working on the boxes. The cabinets are just about finished but I am having problems installing the glass for them, and the window's for the store front. Here are the situation's I have encountered that I would like suggestions to.

1) Cabinets: Attatching the "glass" (Acrylic accitate) to the wood frame's for the glass, the "super glue" clouds the glass. What would be the best to use, so it won't cloud and or be easier to clean up the excess? Must be fast bonding.

2) Store front: Attatching the "glass" to the etched brass window frame's

3) Second and third floor's Design question: Should I complete the floors to the edge of the diorama to match the first floor or should I foreshorten them ( 1/2" to leave a better view of the floor's below?

Any input would be appreciated, Thank's

Paul, you might want to leave off some of the glass , depending on the grade of destruction you planned (I'd like to see it before destruction).
Some suggestions to replace acrylic acetate : polycarbonate, polystyrene or polyethyleneterephtalat (will not look "glassy" enough ?) or as simple as that : real glass. There are "object holders" (don't know the word) made of thin glass (size is 75mm x 25mm; 0,2 - 1mm thick) for microscopy. Comes along in packs of 50 pieces. You'll need a glass cutter !! And you get really good looking broken glass out of it , as well.

Well done man! As a big fan of BoB I must say the dio is very very very very very similar to the scene that Private Tipper and Private Liebgott moving in to the Pharmacie and clearing it. To bad that when Tipper is coming back from the back of the Pharmacie a 88 round hit's the front of it. Anyway, Well done and I really want to see the figs in it!

if u dip the transparent parts into future before using superglue to attach them there wont be any clouding from the chemical reaction.
U have made a nice progress there and the floor as said is very nice and also suits to the Pharmacie. Your buildings structure is going nice and i am waiting to see more and more
Keep up the good work
