Im thinking about putting a crew in my 109a6 after hunting the web the only crew which looks likely is the verlinden desert storm tank/apc crew set number 596.Now my problem is I wanted to do the vehicle as a KFOR vehicle, would that crew be suitable. If not did the 109a6 see action in the first gulf war. i would be grateful for any advice.

Johnny,
You could use a number of sets. The Verlinden set is fine or you can get the Dragon Modern US tanker set, or even the two new sets from Warriors will work to. As long as the driver and TC(Track Commander) is wearing a CVC helmat and either BDU's or a NOMAX suit. The rest of the crew usually wears Kevlar helmats.
Gino(Heavy Arty) would be the resident expert on this, he is artilery.

Yup, I concur with Epi above. Only thing I have to add is that M109A6 crewmen do not wear M-9 pistol in shoulder holster. They use M16A2 for weapons. Whichever set you use, modify the torso so they do not have the shoulder holster. Also, M109A6 was not in service till after Desert Storm. It was fielded in mid 1990s.

If the soldiers are doing peacekeeping duty and not actually moving the howitzer, any US soldier kit would work. 2 M-16s, 1 M203 (for driver) and a M249 SAW. Remember the soldiers should be wearing kevlars and flak jackets. If they are on a fire mission, then all member should be wearing coveralls and CVC helmets. I was in Kosovo during the year 2000 with a Paladin unit, so any other questions or ideas about a dio i could prolly help you with. Let me know, i always love to see M109s get built.
