Hey guys,
I just purchased quite a few books on the Sherman:
Tanks in detail- Sherman and Firefly
Spearhead -2nd Armored Division Hell on Wheels
Sherman Walk Around
Sherman In Action.
Wish the Hunnicut book was still in circulation I wouldnt have to buy all these half materials. They are great but just not in detail as I want them to be.
Sorry about that,Ok the book 2nd Armored and this other I have British Military Markings 1939-1945.They censor out the unit markings on most of the pictures Mainly the British book. The 2nd armored is censored on page 26 the sherman on the far right bottom corner. Can anyone explain what it the purpose of doing this annoying scribble of great pictures.I doubt anyone will do anything with worngfull intentions.
Any way I appreciate any reasons.
Thanx
Aj

this was done in WW2 to allow pics to be published (or sent home) but without letting the outside world know which unit was where.

All private documents & photos sent back from the front where censored. I've seen private letters with big blue lines through whole sentences, most annoying when using them for research! Ususally it was the platoon commander or chaplain that got the job.
