I would buy either one, though making both may not be practicle. I would look into all the options as far as silk screen or embroidery before you make anything. I had golf shirts and t-shirts made about 5 years. It was cheaper to go with silk screen if your making a large image and it was cheaper to do embroidery if it was smaller (an inch or two). We had a logo about 21/2 inches by about 11/2 inches embroidered and it only cost about $4.00 a shirt for 3 color embroidery and silk screen for the same thing would have cost much more and not looked as good. If your doing a large image with embroidery it gets real expensive though.

Bryan,
I know what you mean. I actually was thinking white shirt with green logo. Of course the color thing we can also put to a vote. The golf shirt is certainly clobbering the T so far.

I think most of us are in the 30s or above and a golf/polo shirt will get more use than a T-shirt will. White gets too dirty, a gold or tan would be nice though. If I'm going to put some modeling bucks down on a club shirt (that's what we appear to be becoming) I'd like to get good use of it. Something I can wear with pride.

Rob,
Also a good point about white (as I am wearing one right now sporting several stains from dinner time).
How about biege? That might be a neutral color that everyone will get into?

Rob and Jim,
I kinda meant my color post as a joke. I will honestly buy a shirt no matter what color it is.

Tan, beige same difference unless you're painting Luftwaffe aircraft in North African colors.

I want a Africa Korps Desert Yellow (XF-59) that's been faded by the sun for about a year. Then you could thrown in a light dusting of Flat Earth (XF-52) that's been lightened with White (X-2) around the ends of the sleeves and collar for a some dusting effects. You could finish it off with a dry brushing of Titanium Silver (X-32) on the sleeve cuffs and collar for some weathering. I think that would do it. :-)
Oh, thx Rob. Only one more rank to go until I get to my real one. Any chance of matching it dollar for dollar Jim?

Bryan,
Lol...in a word. No.
Personally I think some kind of modern camoflage would be great. Might make the logo hard to see though. Plus doubtful anyone makes such a shirt. hehe....cept the Army.

Okie Dokie. I think I might have located a great online solution. This company will do single orders, process online payments, and ship right to you. That would allow everyone to select their size, shirt type, embroidery style, color, etc. And the price is in line with everyone else who is doing bulk ($25 for a collared shirt). I just emailed them asking they can send me more info about the online store so I will keep you informed.

Oh damn. I just realized that great as the concept is they charge a one-time $100 fee for setting up the logo for the first time. Shozbot.

Damn, the whole post i just typed dissappeared.
Anyway, the whole biege/tan thing really wasn't working for me, that is until Tin had that whole fashion brainstorm. Ya know Jim, I was thinking. I've always been a big fan of the
' winter' wash look. Soooo, if you could make me a darker shirt with a lite dusting of.........
just kiddin'.
Really. I agree with the mob. The original logo (at the top of the page) is really GREAT. Leave well enough alone, as they say. The logo itself has been a rallying point for all of us since the beginning, so stick with it. A new one would be simply an artistic exercise.
As for the colour, I agree with you and Sabot. Either white w/ green logo, or green with gold logo. (Ya need to have the green for obvious reasons, and the gold adds class to the whole endevour. Besides it was Alexander's favourite colour).

After further thought I would have to say that the golf shirt would actually get some use and the T-shirt wouldn't get much.
Maybe we could do another donation thing. I could come up with a few more bucks. If I recall there was more offered than was needed for the software purchase. Just a thought.
We could start some type of club with some low dues amount for costs that may come up like this. This may be a discussion for another thread but I am sure we could come up with some ideas that would make it worth it. I remember a thread that talked about us all building the same models, we could have some set up resource sharing, etc. I really haven't put much thought into what we could do with a membership club besides the idea itself that I took from Robs post. We all seem to get along well enough for something like this to work. Its to late for me to be thinking anyway, just thought I would throw this out there.

That would be with over 12 years of service as of the 20th of this month.

Here are some Ideas:
Black polo w/ gold logo
Tan polo w/ gold or black logo
Green polo w/gold logo
This is for the military guys and Jim:
When I was stationed at Ft.Benning, you could find all kinds of alteration shops outside post. Most of them where cheap. The closest base to me now is Ft.Hood and its 2 and half hours away. What about the rest of you military guys that are on base or near a base checking on that. Just a thought.

I'm coming really late into this discussion thread, but Jim - have you considered a plastic badge with the logo and name on it - like a lot of model chapters use? Cheaper than the shirts (though I'd want that too) and can be worn with anything we already have hanging in the small space in the closet besides the stacks of models...

Gunnie gave his contributions, but I think I'd stay with the polo shirt with embroidered logo, and I do prefer the original Armorama logo, Jim.
Cheers!
