Browsing the excellent PLANETARMOR website I came across these pics which I seem to remember caused some interest on a recent thread. The subject was using the 105mm gun (as supplied in the Italeri DUKW) as a cargo load.
The general consensus was that it had to be slightly modified. I hope these pics will be of some use to those of you building it as it shows the mods. done to the DUKW cargo deck. Thanks to PlanetArmor and especially David Harper for posting these useful pics....Jim

The problem is more than that. The Italeri 105 is too wide (Well, not actually). Supposedly there were a couple of tire/rim options. Anyway, the new Italeri DUKW/Howitzer combo contains modified sidewalls with cutouts to accomidate the wide wheelbase of the 105. Supposedly this mod was actually done. Kurt Laughlin had posted some info on it and Perth Military site shows the modified pieces in it's review of the new kit.

Can you place the old Tamyia 25 pounder in a DUKW? Is that an accurate combination?
thanks

I thought the modified slots on the DUKW were a post WW2 mod, as with the drain slots.

Good pics'. All they have done here is removed the front corner floor sheets of plywood and put some ballist lumber with a couple of chocks on it to protect the outside hull by spreading the load. Of course on the kit this means cutting the floor as it is a one piece molding.
Hope this helps

Plus, that third photo is an excellent excuse to use a tarp to avoid dealing with the toy-like movable trail arms in the 105 kit :-)
