I recently purchased a set of T51 workable track linls from AFV Club
and found that when I tried to use them on the M-12 Mobile Artillery
kit from Academy that they don't fit. The guide horns are too wide to
fit inside the drive sprocket by about approx. 1/16". I also checked
the band track in the kit and found it was also narrower than the
track links. They fit the drive sprocket perfectly.
I also happen to have the Academy M-10 and the Achilles kits and they
have exactly the same problem. That didn't really surprise me as the
molds are likely the same for the drive system in all kits.
I tried the links in an unbuilt Tamiya M-4 Sherman and they are still
a slight bit wide but I think by just not bottoming the drive sprocket
halves together when assembling they just might work.
After all that preamble has anyone else had this type of problem with
these track types or do they only fit on certain manufacturers (their
own maybe) kits. Or are there better sets available from a different
manufacturer? If anyone has any suggestions on how to get these to
fit i'd appreciate the info.
Thanks;
ron

Ron, unfortunetly the AFV's track-links are designed for all M4's.
The drive sprockets are slightly different from the M12's whose toothe count is 12 and the M4's are 13 teeth. Oddly, the M10 is a 12 tooth sprocket too. Hmmm.
That is one problem I have'nt encountered...yet.
As far as who makes a set for the M12, I'm not sure at the moment, but I'll keep looking.

Here's a suggestions, try to put a spacer between the halves of the sprocket by using a coin-shaped piece of sheet styrene. Might give you enough play to make it work.

Ooops, looks like I errrd! I missed the part on the "guide horns". I guess I'm still hung up on Academy's M18 track -link being too small for the sprocket teeth! Required too much medelling to mess with it. Arrgghh.
Sorry about that.
