Here's the way I do flags. My wife likes to make her own clothes, so there is usually a lot of dress maker's paper as cutoffs. I take a piece of this paper and tape it to a regular 8 1/2 by 11 sheet which acts as a carrier. After I have worked on the graphic of my flag, I run my dress maker's paper through my inkjet printer with the print setting on best quality. Because the inkjet lays down more ink with better quality, and this then leaks through the dress maker's paper, the flag ends up looking correct from both sides.
If you spouse does not sew, you may be able to find this paper at a sewing shop.
