In laymen's terms they represent the isolation of the individual in a post-industrial society which cares little for individualism. To the unitiated, A Scarecrow, A Pumpkin, A Mexican and A Pirate...... This on the other hand represents the obvious....Jim

Perhaps the original query should have been more precise and asked what intended emotion is to be associated with the demonstrated icons.
