Hi modellers!
This summer im going to build my first big diorama.
its going to be 100cm-50cm big.
it is 1/72 scale and there will be american paratroopers attacking to germans artillerypositions in normandy. so the question is: how can i make haystacks to the field? can i buy them somewhere or how can i scrachbuild one?
I know someone can help me.
Thanks in advance!

hiya captain. maybe you could try the realistic grass from woodland...

its long and maybe you can tie it togeter to get the desired shape it worked to make straw roofing in 1:35 and you can cut it down to shape.

For a few bucks you can buy a paintbrush with long bristles. Then take the band off the bristles, cut to length and you have instant tall grass/hay. As for the stack you can make the shape of a pile with scrap wood covered with glue soaked tissue. Paint the tissue hay color when dry. Glue the cut bristles to the pile

If you have a craft store nearby that sells the small corn brooms, you can disassemble them and then make the haystacks from the bristles. You may want to use some styrofoam cones as a core and then glue the bristles to that.

You could also use some of that yellow hemp rope, untwine it and cut to pieces. You culd use a piece of clay or something to form the pile, add white glue on top and sprinkle the rope pieces on.
Look for a thread on an "Eastern Front Diorama" in this forum. The barn has hay in it.
