If you're more into fit and ease, go for Tamiya. Yes, it may not be accurate OOB but saves you time and effort in building it then add the scratchbuilt parts.

Like Dave says, the DML one is superior if you are lucky and can find it. Between the old Tamiya and Italeri one, Italeri's is much better.

I'll second that Rob - I've got a Tamiya which I'm going to dress up with the Cavalier Zimmeritt sheet as soon as I can get proof positive that the L70 had Zim.

Thanks guys for your help, will try for the DML, but, if not, then will go for the Italeri. Thanks again.

Hi Aitch,

If I remember correctly, L/70 should not be with zimmerit.

The few pics in The Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII show no zim on the L70.

Whoops - looks like you might be right there then...
Oh well I'll build the Tamiya as a fun project and find an L/48 kit to add the zim to.

Thanks for the advice, the Cavalier sheet specifically mentions the L/70 and says it's for the Italeri kit no.266.

Sturm, If you can read the hull number - if there is one - I'd like to know it please.
Also is the colour scheme plain (like sand or primer) or is it Ambush scheme..?
Thanks, and also welcome to the site...

Hi all;

The pic above is NOT an L/70 but an L/48. Most of these had zimmerit.

I searched the net using Yahoo and Google - using the phrase 'jagdpanzer IV/L70 with zimmerit' There's a lot of folk out there who think - like I did - that at least some L/70 had zim.
Either way I'm still building my Tamiya as I've now got the replacement tracks and gun barrel I was after. Does anyone know anything specific that could be corrected on the Tamiya that I can tackle please

I just found this and it sure looks like an L/70 to me, but no sign of Zim

That's an excellent model
I think it's safe to say that a very few of the new L/70 Jagdpanzers were coated with zimmeritt in the period between August and September 1944 - when the order to stop using zimmeritt was issued.
I'm going to take a chance and go with the zim - just this once... but as a well battered early 1945 - the Cavalier zim is resin and should flake pretty well.
Thanks to everyone who helped with info and comments, and thanks to JJ too.

There are many photos of the l/70 Jagdpanzer out there. I do not know how to send a photo to you; but the Bundesarchiv on Wikimedia Commons has some photos, give it a try.

Hi all
I'm a new member
L/70 had zimmerit but only August 1944 production as for Tamiya 35088 or Dragon 6589 (single exhaust horizontal, four return rollers)

and exhaust as for panzer iv F, G, H (horizontal)
I saw the other photos of that jagdpanzer marked 1032 on Panzerwrecks 12.
Someone knows what kind of Jagdpanzer IV is Italeri 266?
