I read the post about the Revell Germany's PZH 2000's tracks...

Is there anything I can buy to dress up this model? PE? Aftermarket tracks? If not, I'll just build it stock and move on.

I did a search in GreatModel's website and found zippo in terms of aftermarket products. In fact, GMWS didn't even have the kit anymore.

Thanks.

There's a photo-etch set from Eduard, at least.

It is still available at Great Models, listed under Revell of Germany. Here it is.

Eduard offers a PE set, if that interests you. The track are not really that bad. They just take some care to get right. I enjoyed building mine OOTB. It looks good and is impressive in size too. The MG is pretty bad though, you will probably want to swap it out.
Here is mine:
Good luck.

I also built mine OOTB. The tracks came out ok after I filled the ejector marks and sanded them rigoriously.I had to staple them together as nothing else seemed to hold. The skirts hide most of the track. I made mine with the aluminum barrel. I think I almost filled the plastic receiver part with 5 minute epoxy before the barrel was rigid enough to be safe from my 'gentle' model building techniques. I used an article that appeared in fine scale modeler awhile back as sort of a loose guideline on what I wanted to do. Full metal jacket also had an article on it. It was a bit more intense than the one in FSM. Anyway, I am pleased with the result.

Hi there,

If your kit is the 1/72 by Revell, there is a PE available at Eduards. Just go to their site. However, there is little to add and can be built straight out of the box. Here is mine,

The one thing I am doing to fix the track Issue is to get Tamiya's Leopard 1A4 the tracks are the same and $14 US. It cost less than most Am track sets that are out there. Just keep in mind if do decide on Am Tracks that the Hull and suspension are from A leopard 1 not the leopard 2. HTH STUG

Thanks for the replies. The Eduard's PE doesn't seem to have enough parts to warrent the price. As such, OOTB for me too.

stugiiif,
Actually the Leopard 1 tracks are not the same as the PzHow2000. The tracks are unique to the vehicle. That is the problem with them, no one makes replacement tracks for it and no other kit tracks are a donar either. That is why you are stuck with the less than perfect kit tracks. But, with care they can look good.

The kit tracks look pretty good when weathered.I built mine OOTB and enjoyed the build very much. The metal gun barrel (1/35th scale kit) has got to be the biggest metal barrel I have seen in any kit!.
The PZH 2000 looks great on the shelf sitting next to my Tamiya Leopard 2A5.

I just started building the turret today (skipped the hull) and must say that the fit is very nice. I agree, the metal barrel is looooong, one of the reasons why I bought this kit :-). Little did I know that the metal barrel seats all the way into the mantle, thus eliminating about an eighth of the length.

I have Concord's NATO's SPH book as well as the actual KMW PZH 2000 brochures. The kit seems accurate to the references I have. The frontal turret basket is often occupied by a tarp or a camo net, thus I see no need for the Eduard PE if the basket's covered.

I could see the plastic barrel being useful for some sci-fi armor...
