Appears to be an Italeri M4A3 upper hull. Everything should fit with little modification. The exhaust wil be different from the M4A1 and M4A3.

Howdy Eran,

Even though it pains me ( ) to have to agree with Shermies, it appears to be in fact, the Italeri M4A3 upper hull piece. The only thing that potentiallly makes me hesitate is the colour. But then, your photo may not be showing the true 'sprue' colour.
But then you might have an earlier copy of the Italeri M4A3 hull.....

Tread.

Oh....and to answer your second question. Quite a bit actually.

ShermiesRule is correct. This should be a drop-fit on any Italeri Sherman lower hull, but like the man says, you'll need a M4A3 rear end. If you need one (plus the exhaust cover), I have some extras. It's not as good as the Tamiya M4A3, but it will do in a pinch. The hull fittings from the M4A1 will go right onto this without modification -- it's the same sprue.

Woohoo I was right! My bid for UOM June!!!

The color of the hull matches the sprues colors when the Italeri Sherman series were sold under the Testors brand. They do not match the sprue colors sold as the Italeri brand. Since the USMC M4A3 and the Calliope were never released under the Testors brand, I would think the hull belongs to the Testors Jumbo M4A2, which was not an M4A2 but really an M4A3 hull.

Coincidentally I am using a Italeri USMC M4A3 Sherman hull to mount an Italeri M4A1 76mm this very moment. SInce I am using an M4A3 lower hull I do not have to worry about the exhaust.

It could also be the upper hull from the Testors/Italeri M36B1 Jackson tank destroyer as well.

Very true, Rob -- I don't know how I forgot about that one.

Lot's of folks bought these kits and scratched the M10-style hulls to make a more common version of the M36. I still have two turrets I saved from those kits -- the hulls were used for other conversions (and probably explain why I have so many spare rear ends for these kits). Now the Italeri M36 turrets are pretty useless compared to the Academy M36 kit.
