Diorama Friends,
within a couple of weeks I will start a miniseries on building a small vignette. In this miniseries I will explain how I build a diorama from beginning to end. Things that will be in there (in individual chapters) are :
- The Idea
- The Composition
- Working with lasercut cards; Let's make a ladder
- Painting a face using acrylics
- Painting a uniform using acrylics
- Painting camouflage on dennisson smocks
- Painting and weathering a house
- Detailing the scene
and
- Aftermarket productsI'll post the individual chapters as features as we move along. I feel this series will prove to be good material for novice diorama builders and they will contain some lessons for myself too.
If you have never built a diorama before, maybe this is an opportunity for you to build along with me. I must warn you that I'm a slow builder and I have to write up the articles as we move along too, so it won't be speedy. Perhaps this is just a good thing for those who want to join in

I'll keep you posted when the series start.

Don't look at it as "The Master learns you how to build it". I'm just goint to explain the way I do things.... I don't intent to tell you how you MUST do things...only how you CAN do it. Most probably there is a lot to learn for me too. I'm hoping to get some positive cryitcs as we move along, so I can improve my skills too.
Anyway, I expect this to be a fun project and if there is only one person out there who can learn something from it, my day will be more than good.

It is this sort of thing that makes Armorama what it is. There are so many talented modelers out there that are willing to share. I like the "hands on" stuff. Keep it coming!!

I will be eagerly awaiting these....especially the figure chapters....as I completly suck at making figures. I just recently bought a book on painting figures, the guy explains it in pretty plain english, and is a pretty good book....uses nothing but the acrylic craft paint you can find at Walmart or the craft stores. But just like anything, reading about it and doing it, are 2 different things, but it is a good read, if anyone is interested the book is called "Getting Started Painting Diorama Figures in Acrylics" by Brett Avants. The book is put out by Letterman Productions and is # LP 007
Thanks!

I look forward to your miniseries, and your timing couldn't be better.
Now that my basement is finally drying out after the flood, I can get back to building my T-72 which I intend to put into a dio.
And since I have never attempted to construct a diorama before, this will be something to help me focus on finally completing it.
If you are back to where you started, chances are you never left...

Hey Danny! I see that you have started your series on diorama making.I sure wish that you were around when I started years ago (35) It is very generous of you to share your techniques . I know how time consuming it is to undertake writing a series of articles. It aint easy. Cheers! John.
