I have read your letter to Vallejo regarding the difficulties you are having with their Model Air line. I have been using Vallejo Model Air colors for about two years. During my early days of using Model Air I also ran into the difficulties you are describing. Let me try to help you address some of these problems.
I have also found model air to give an appearance of water on a waxed car when applying the first coat. Despite this appearance, the paint has always manages to dry to a very smooth appearance better them most other acrylics I have airbrushed. After the first coat has had time to dry, the second cote seams to spray on without any problem and adhere well to the model. I have found it best to place Vallejo model air paint directly into your airbrush from the bottle. Using a brand new, well shaken, bottle of model air (like other paints) will also improve its spaying abilities. Using the paint directly from the bottle without thinning it further will also allow you to obtain an opaque finish in about three cots, which is normally what I need when airbrushing with other brands of paints.
I hope this letter will help you too address these problems you wrote about in your letter. I am truly sorry about the difficulties you have had with your latest project. Despite the problems I also had with Vallejo Model Air during my early experiences, I have found it to yield some of the best finishes on the models I have recently completed. Please E-mail me again if your difficulties continue.
Sincerely
Adam N.P. Wilder
