Yes, it is a big undertaking and a lot of money will flow into stuff for it :-)
The reason to make sth big about OIf is due to the fact that an american friend of mine stationed in Germany ( signal) was in OIF for a 1 year.
A small part of the diorama when done will be offered to him . I hope during the next upocoming time of modelling some brand will relase some US modern 1/35 Signal stuff like tropo antenna dishes.
I still haven t found the nato camouflage pattern for the 5th Shelter ( Italeri kit) that s why you can see on the pcitures that the shelter on the truck is still green and the truck itslef already in nato tone.
Have a good one :-)

Euro,
Let me check at work Tuesday. I have the manual for my ICSS Van and it might have what you want. I will let you know Tuesday afternoon.

I am impressed with the amount that is in the dio. I am trying to do the same amount and it's taking for ever. I hope mine comes out as good as yours. Are you gona add any palms to it, or buildings it would increase the pressence of the hardware alot but thats what I would do. I am trying to create a attack at one of the bridges in the first days of the WAR.
GREAT WORK
Happy Modeling

I checked the Tb 43-0209 Army book about the " vehicle camoulfage patterns "
and the 5T with the shelter ( like the italeri kit ) did not figure in the appendix.
The only shelter I found was the 2-1/2 truck shop van .
I thank you for checking that out

yes small housings will be added but all would be small with only a base floor ( more like huts) . The diorama will represent a highway too . I don t know yet if to represent the invasion time or a post war Mai 2004 scene . But since I already added Cip pannels ( which you don t see much now on vehicles) it will be about the invasion .
The toughest thing at the end will be to place the appropriate decals ! (and most decals I need don t even exist on the market so all will have to painted by hand)
PS : I will not use for every kit foto etch parts or conversions, due to the fact that I am still a student . The only kits which will be given fotoetch is the Academy Ambulance especially thei interior , some Bradleys, and one conversion kit for the Humvee shelter communication.
Happy modeling too

excellent, and alot of work. How big is the base going to measure and where will you put it? The idea is great, but what unit will it be from and are planning on placing it in a specific region, say nasiriya or karbala? Also, which kits are you going to use for the troops?

Euro,
If its the bumper numbers that you have to paint by hand, try using dry transfers on clear decal paper. That what i always use to change all the bumper numbers on my vehicles, especially the vehicles I model from my curent unit. The leters and numbers are even great when you have to put the name of the driver and assitent driver on the windows.
I will try and post some pictures of what i am talking about later tonight.

How big is the base going to measure
The size I don t know yet, but twice than on the pictures.
The brown wood base on the pcitures is not the real base it s only a shelve where I put the stuff in order to have an idea what it should look like . IT will be a 2 lane coloumn . Most trucks will be 22nd signal Brigade protected by 3r ID Bradleys and M1A1s .
I have the space for doing it . I will extremly take care that it won t look crappy or unrealistic.
I will do it slowly even it will take 2 years . IT s worth it .
Concerning the troops , I will use many US marine corps dragon kits and convert a lot with heads and arms etc... I will use all recent tamya tankers and soldiers included in their new kits.
What is good is that the 22nd Signal soldiers at the begining of the war were mostly eqquiped with the old FLak vest , so I could use some Old Dragon Gulf war 1 kits.
Now concerning the region Kerbala or Nasaryah , it will almost be the nasaryah region
On the pictures far in the back , you see a desert painted M1A2 well that tank will have to be removed as it was not used by the 3ID and did not witness the invasion by anyother units.

I mean for exemple : 1A 3Bde
dry transfers? hmm,,I dont know what that is
another question if the first vehicle in the colum is 3I-3-69A HQ 35
what would the next vehicles in the same column bumper look like same than above?
or will only the HQ35 bumpers change on each vehicle while the 3I-3-69A remains the same ?
it seems that the decal issue will be a big issue

Euro,
Lets see, where to start. Your example of HQ35, that is where most of your support vehicles of the combat team is going to be; for example; HEMTT's, Hummers, 5Tons, 2 1/2's, M113's, M577's. Your Bradleys and M1A1's are going to have a bumper number like this; A,B,C,D - #.
Now your main vehicles that are with the 22nd signal, they are going to be different. You probably want to ask your friend for a picture of one of the bumper numbers or just let you know what they are.
I wrote an article with the help of Rob(SABOT a while back with a generic explination on bumper numbers, I hope it helps:
Bumper Numbers
Now here are some of Archer's dry transfers. They are just generic numbers and letters. You can also find some in a office supply store of art store.
You just pick the letter /number and rub it on some clear decal paper and then put in on like a regular decal.
