Hi all
Like the title says, I need a little help firming up an idea I have for a dio I'm working on. The basic idea is this, A French M-24 is on patrol on a dirt road with a small force of infantry. They have come up on a local "Farmer" pushing a cart full of hay. The French troops have stopped him to check his papers. Mean while a handfull of hay has dropped off the back of the cart to show the butts of a few rifles that the French don't notice.
Heres where I need the help. First, what would this farmer be dressed like? I know about the black "pjs" worn by VC forces in later years of the conflict, but what would "John Q Farmer" wear?
Second, would a Farmer have any use for a cart of hay or should I change the load ? Lastly, would a farmer carry around his ID papers with him?
I know this is alot to ask, but I could really use some help on this one.
Thanks in advance

Hi Wolfsix,
I guess I'll have a poke at the hay (no pun intended). I would think the cart idea is okay except here in the tropics farmers tend to feed their livestock fresh cut grass so you might want to substitute the dried brown hay with green cut grass.
I'm assuming this dio is on Vietnam during French rule. Farmer John would still be in his conical straw hat, sandals and PJ's except they may not be necessarily black. I can't say whether he will have papers on him though but logically if he has to go through a known checkpoint that he frequents in his grass collection rounds he would have them.
Its an interesting idea though.

Hi Beachbum
Thanks for the reply. I had almost given up on this post. Fresh grass it is. The dio takes place in French Indochina circa 1950.
