Hey Guys,

just bought the rereleased heller M4A3 76mm basically its a rebox of t he italeri kit with a early 75mm turret.Maybe why its a $9.00 USD extra then the Italeri kit.Well back to the topic as we all know Italeri does not make there kits with casting numbers. So how can make some, where can I buy some, and any easy ways to get extras.these kits set me back $30 bucks each so money here is a factor.Only investing in PE set and Barrel. So what is the verdict guys any good ways to get these numbers.

Thanx

AJ

Use a sharp blade and slice them off sprues. All Tamiya sprues have nice numbers and letters, and Academy includes a sprue intended for this. Glue them on with liquid cement.

There are usually casting numbers on the transmission covers...also on the turret ...Mantlet ,and bogies ...If you go to the formations site ..you can see that Rob has done a good job with some of these casting marks just to give you a few examples...

Actually every casting will have some numbers on it, including small parts. The very least will be the part number (such as D1324, C33256, B5227, etc.) in raised numbers somewhere on the casting. In addition, for larger parts like bogey frames, differential housings, turrets and the like, you will see other number/letter codes which stand for the manufacturer, the lot or heat number, the serial cnumber and, occasionally, the material code. All of these are optional except the part number and their locations vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

The most visible numbers are on are things like the turret, hull, hull plate castings (most of the "welded plate" hull front plates on most Shermans are actually castings welded together, each with ID numbers) bogey frames, hatches, mantlets, etc. etc. Obviously, given the scope of this, you can go absolutely insane putting casting numbers on individual exhaust brackets (which did, indeed, have them), but sticking to the bulk of the big items is ususlly enough headache for anyone.
