i recently purchased an m8 greyhound diecast afv made by Corgi fighting machines showcase collection
ho scale.
it caught my eye nice looking an ive never seen one
in diecast metal .
but the tan weathering over the od paint looks terrible.
an there are no decals on it other than usa 517672
in small white letters on both sides.
the wheels an tires looked the worst almost solid tan.
i have a product called oops latex paint remover .
an i tried it on the tires with Q tips an the tan paint came right off . i did have some od paint loss on the
wheels but i doesnt look bad.
then i tried the oops with Q tips on the tan weathering on the hull. an it wont come off . the tan paint seems to have bonded to the od paint.
does anyone have any recommendations for other products and or techniques to use to remove the weathering?
thanks Indy out.....

I personally have never tried it . I have read, where else but here, that oven cleaner is 1 route to go...just make sure you have plenty of ventilation or go outside. Rinse with water when done.

Wow, I just saw the Corgi catalog tonite and was wondering abot thier 1/64 armor. I looked nice, though, from pictures I could see some thick, out of scale details.
Still, My girlfriend models in 1/64, so, I might re-detail something for her.

Indy, before you do something that drastic, what about blending it in some?
Try a wash with a raw or burnt umber, something to tone the tan down. You also might want to drybrush some OD green in the tan areas, that will help.
This might make it look a lot less stark, have less contrast. And you wont be risking the loss of the paint job in total.
