Hello everyone, I have started my third dio. this is where I am at now. I have done the general bridge construction and only have to add a few bolts and nuts here and there and I'm starting the groundwork tomorrow. I have a question about the timbers used would they be "treated in anyway? If so what color would the timbers be? I still have a lot of aging to do there but if there is another colr for a starting poit I.E. treated wood it would be a help. Well here are the pics and once again all comments are welcome.
Cheers Kevin

Hi
I usually paint the wooden parts with burnt umber, by just washing. Then wheathering with enamels. At last I apply a coat of matt clear varnish. I think this procedure also protects the wood. I had no problems till now.

Kevin - you don't slow down do you
As far as treating wood in the setting and time frame you are modeling I believe the only type of treatment would have been a layer of tar or thinned down tar. There were other treatment coatings but I don't believe they would have 'colored' the wood.
I'd add a brunt umber wash in the creases of the vertical wall.
